The upcoming New Moon/Solar Eclipse on October 14th takes place at 21 degrees Libra. This allows us to do two things: first, it allows us to see if anything in our birth chart is strongly aspected by that degree (especially if by conjunction square or opposition). Second, and just as important for some people, an Eclipse brings an opportunity for unnecessary panic.
Adding fuel to that: you may have noticed that there seems to have been a certain acceleration of events in life recently. Both Venus and Mars have just recently changed Signs, and Pluto has finally gone direct. Throw in an Eclipse and you can get ready for a thrill ride of some sort somehow or other.
One of the reasons why astrologers seem to get nervous around Eclipses is that they're easy to forget about a month after they happen. For example, this particular Eclipse leaves its mark at 21 degrees Libra, but it's easy a month or two down the road to forget that it happened when all the transiting planets are somewhere else. But when a transiting planet trips off something in your natal chart, plus something significant transits that Eclipse point you can almost certainly count on some major action happening. "Oh jeez, forgot about 21 Libra. My bad!"
Rather than offer my usual comforting reassurance that you've survived plenty of Eclipses before and you'll probably get through this one too, I'm going to list all of the major transits to 21 degrees Libra between now and the next Eclipse cycle. When you see major transits to your planets happen, especially if they involve matters concerning the House that Eclipse falls in, you can expect some significant action even if the transits to your chart aren't that dramatic. A nice crunchy square to an Eclipse point in your chart. can shake things up. Astrologers don't seem to like Eclipses because Eclipses mean "surprises." And honestly, who wants to hear "expect the unexpected" coming from someone who's supposed to be able to predict the future? Nonetheless, I maintain that everyone takes a deep breath and relax and keep in mind that not all surprises are bad. And to be honest with you, sometimes even the bad surprises prove to be necessary in the long run.
Here's how to more realistically interpret a Solar or Lunar Eclipse in your birth chart:
First of all, look at the major aspects to the important points in your chart at any given time. That will allow you to figure out where the big changes will be happening in your life -- for better or worse -- because of this Eclipse. It's also important to note which House of your birth chart the Eclipse takes place in. For example, if it takes place in the 11th House of your birth chart, get ready for some big significant changes in your social circle between now and the next set of Eclipses.
